The New York State Council of Educational Associations exists:
» to faciliate communication among member professional education organizations in order to clarify common, as well as unique, concerns; and to arrive at concensus regarding important educational issues.
» to be agent and instrument of the collective member organizations to advocate for specialized and particular needs of the Council (and/or individual member associations by consensus), whenever and wherever necessary and appropriate, and
» to provide the opportunity for unifying activities amongst member professional organizations who have common interests, functions, and purposes.
Governance
NYSCEA is governed through a three part structure:
A DELEGATE ASSEMBLY consisting of two voting representatives from each member group meets three times annually to discuss issues and make decisions which affect education at all levels of state government.
An EXECUTIVE BOARD which includes the President, President-Elect, Secretary, Treasurer, Past President and Committee Chairpersons meets regularly to serve in an administrative role to the Delegates and to make recommendations to the Delegates' Assembly.
STANDING COMMITTEES of the Council are: Communications, Finance, Legislative, Membership, Organizational Structure, and Research and Development.
